Lois’s Five Fast Facts
My favorite place to travel to Scotland. With my Celtic heritage, Scotland will always have a special place in my heart.
My favorite method of travel is river cruising. It is so restful traveling between destinations along the river.
I have been organizing custom floral educational trips since 1992 and Celtic heritage tours since 2005.
I am always in search of good Scotch! I even go so far as to locate the oldest Scottish pub in Paris, France.
I am intrigued by the irrelevant and quirky. Like the Pencil store in Prague that was founded in 1790.
About LOIS WALLACE
travel advisor
I admit it, I’m a museum freak.
It was my first trip to the Netherlands where I got to visit the Van Gogh museum that I was hooked! Seeing the magnificent work of Van Gogh in person was thrilling. I could feel Van Gogh’s energy and passion as I viewed his masterpieces.
Luckily, on that first trip to Europe, one of our group was a well-traveled gentleman. He took us in hand and made sure we didn't miss out on any important experiences. With his guidance, we attended a performance at the famous Vienna Opera House and it was incredible. His advice made our trip so much more memorable and left a lasting impression on me.
passions
I have always had two passions in my life: Flowers and Travel. As a member of the Horticulture Faculty at College of San Mateo, I first got to bring my passions together by leading and organizing Floral Study groups to Europe. These trips went to museums, famous gardens, large events like the Chelsea Garden Show and International Floriade. Visits to flower shops, studios and hands on classes taught by famous European teachers were included. Since retiring from teaching my focus turned to Travel and Heritage. But my passion for flowers has never left me.
Travel connections
The connection to art, culture, history, and people are why I travel. To experience the famous art and architecture of the world, to stand on historic locations like Culloden Battlefield in Scotland or the Normandy beaches in France. To wonder Monet’s garden and imagine him planning exactly how it would look in his mind’s eye. To hear the stories and imagine what their life was like in times long ago connect me to the past and to the current.
This is what excites me about travel.
