As this lands in your inbox, I’ll be landing at SFO. It’s been an incredible two weeks. India is a place not to be missed. It’s a land of contrasts, everywhere you go. You must leave all your preconceived notions about India behind and look at it with fresh eyes.
India has over 1.3 billion people living in a country slightly more than 1/3 the size of the US. We saw beautiful homes and people living in poverty (as one sees in most countries in the world, including the US). This is not what India is about. India is about history, art, architecture, ancient, new, dry dusty lands, lush tropical areas, modern busy cities and remote, untouched rural areas. Hindus, Muslims, Christians and a smattering of other religions living together. Most women still wear traditional dress; Saris, Punjabis Churidars. The colors and designs are incredibly beautiful; I couldn’t stop taking photos. Ganesh, our guide, taught us a lot about Hinduism and their philosophies of life; one was - many blessings. If you do good things, you can be rewarded with many blessings.
